Support: Legal Access

Access to legal services is essential to ending an abusive relationship and yet survivors often struggle to find attorneys with domestic abuse case experience. The Legal Access Program is available to educate victims about the legal process so they are empowered to be actively engaged in their attorney-client relationship. By educating individuals in abusive relationships about legal tools and resources available, they are given the opportunity to once again make choices after feeling powerless.

FOR VICTIMS: The Legal Access Program Director provides clients with support and resources throughout the legal process, including:

  • Attorney referrals;
  • Victim advocacy support;
  • Tips for working with attorneys;
  • Fact sheets on common legal issues;
  • Answers to basic legal questions; and
  • Legal Clinics on common issues.

FOR ATTORNEYS: The Legal Access Program continues to cultivate a network of attorneys who are committed to social justice and empowerment through working with victims of domestic abuse. Visit Get Involved to learn more about joining the JCADA Attorney Network.

This program is available to current JCADA clients only. To learn more, contact  legal@jcada.org.
