AWARE®’s Workshop Offerings:

Core Workshop: It’s Not Love®

This interactive, hands-on program, based on CDC best practices for promoting healthy teen relationships, opens the door for teens to start examining their friendships and relationships. Trained facilitators spark important conversations that continue beyond the workshop.

There are no films or books. No one can zone out or sit on the sidelines. Every student participates and every workshop is unique because the teens play out the stories and react as if in a real life situation.

It’s Not Love® is a unique and engaging way to teach teens the warning signs of unhealthy relationships, as well as the skills necessary to help themselves or a friend.

Audiences: Students, 9th grade through college

Run Time: 75 – 90 minutes

It’s Not Love® Part II

We know that emotional abuse can have the most lasting impact on a victim or survivor of dating violence. About 84% of victims are psychologically abused by their partners, half are physically abused, and one-third experience sexual coercion.

It’s Not Love® Part II builds on the skills and knowledge learned in It’s Not Love®, focusing specifically on the dynamics of verbal and emotional abuse. Teens practice responding when someone they care about is being abusive and examine in depth the different methods of verbal and emotional abuse.

This interactive, hands-on program is based on CDC best practices and fits perfectly into curriculum requirements.

Audiences: Students, 9th grade through college, who have already participated in It’s Not Love®

Run Time: 75 – 90 minutes

#healthyfriendships

Navigating friendships and what it means to be a good friend in middle school is a challenge. Even with more focus on health and wellness in the curriculum, books and lessons on healthy relationships can’t compete with what teens & tweens experience and feel every day.

#healthyfriendships gives middle schoolers the chance to learn more about the dynamics of friendships and how to have tough conversations with their friends through this interactive, hands-on program, based on CDC best practices.

Students learn how to be an upstander, which will serve them well as they move on to create healthy relationships in the future.

Audiences: Students, 6th to 8th grade

Run Time: 75 – 90 minutes

Parents can participate too! Ask about AWARE®’s Parallel Parent Program, which partners well with both It’s Not Love® and #healthyfriendships!
