Our Victim Advocates are trained to support the needs of survivors of IPV. With access to numerous resources, our staff treat each client with respect, understanding, and empathy. At JCADA we prioritize your safety and wellbeing and use our victim advocacy services to support your healing. 

JCADA develops customized services based on an individual's unique situation.
All services are 100% free of charge, confidential, and primarily virtual.
In-person sessions are available upon request.

CASE
MANAGEMENT

JCADA’s Victim Advocates provide trauma-informed case management and help secure resources to meet your most pressing needs. Our Victim Advocates collaborate with you to help you reach your safety goals.  

SAFETY
PLANNING

safety plan is a personalized, practical plan to improve your safety while experiencing abuse, preparing to leave an abusive situation, or after you leave. (National Domestic Violence Hotline)​

 

JCADA can support you in creating an individualized plan to help keep you and/or your children safer in an abusive situation.

PUBLIC ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS

JCADA’s Victim Advocates can help determine your eligilbility for public benefits and assist you in the application process for the following programs and more. â€‹

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, food assistance)  

  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF, financial assistance)  

  • Medicaid

  • Child Care Subsidies 

ADDRESS CONFIDENTIALITY PROGRAM

The Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) allows survivors to maintain a confidential physical address. 

 

The ACP provides: 

  • A substitute address for survivors who have moved or are about to move to a new location, unknown to their abuser.

  •  A free and confidential mail-forwarding service. 

 

JCADA’s Victim Advocates are certified ACP Application Assistants in DC, Maryland, and Virginia and can help you enroll in ACP after determining eligibility.

FINANCIAL
LITERACY
EDUCATION

JCADA’s Victim Advocates can provide a five-module program called Moving Ahead: A Financial Empowerment Resource, created by the Allstate Foundation.

Moving Ahead covers a variety of important financial topics, including budgeting, managing debt, and improving credit. This curriculum can be completed through a self-paced course or facilitated individually by a JCADA Victim Advocate.

COURT 
ACCOMPANIMENT

JCADA's Victim Advocates are trained in providing accompaniment to survivors as they navigate the judicial process.  Victim Advocates provide emotional support, legal information, and companionship in court.

Our facility dog Tahoe is an important member of our advocacy team who provides comfort in therapy sessions, court hearings, and hospital settings.
