During Sukkot, we invite you to tie a purple ribbon to your sukkah as a reminder that not all in our community dwell in peace and safety in their homes.
At your Sukkot gathering, recite the following blessing, or any other appropriate words,to recognize the need for peace in all homes:
We bless the Divine Presence, whose wings shelter us with peace. Redeemer of Israel who brought us out of Egypt, on this festival of Sukkot our thoughts turn to those who dwell in fear and danger intheir own homes. With compassion and an outstretched arm, bring them forth into freedom, and shelter them in your sukkah of peace.
May we all be blessed with true shalom bayit – peace in the home. Amen.
